Archive for September, 2013

Back in April I had the pleasure of going to my friend Frank’s vacation home in Michigan for the second annual “Bandom Qdeudtz” recording session. The idea is this – 2 unrelated song genres are randomly selected. Additionally, a random number from 3 to 6 is pulled for the number of band members, then band members are selected randomly from the musicians present to form the band. This “band” entity then has 45 minutes to write and record a song.

Although these recordings are not 100% improv as the rest of the postings on Freak of the Week, they are definitely rapid-fire written & recorded, and a whole lot of improv goes into that. So, posted below are 2 tracks that I was on from this recording event. I will have to circle back with him for everyone’s names that was on each of these.

For more songs recorded that day, you can visit this Bandcamp site.

Recorded Live, March 15, 2003 – Finding this particular Karma Canon session was a real treat for me! I first posted this session in September of 2007, and it was recorded in 2003. This features the original Karma Canon lineup with Peter Schroeck on guitar. When I mixed down the sessions from that night, apparently there was another 3 songs at the end of the night I chose not to include. I have posted them here:
