This is the second part of a three part series featuring the improvisational works of The Music Never Stopped, an improvisational music event that took place on January 17, 2002 to benefit the Delaware Sierra Club’s Sustainability Project. This project was put together by Matt Urban, and I was on the project team. CD Artwork was by Jessica Bratton and myself, all photos by Jessica.
Yep… this one has the same album cover as my previous post… although this one is actually the original. This recording is an improvisational night of jamming at Kelly’s Logan House in Wilmington, DE on January 17, 2002. The project was conceived by Matt Urban, and I helped to organize it, as well as putting together the CD artwork with the help of Jessica Bratton (who took all of the event photos). The event and sales of the CD were all for charity, to benefit the Delaware Sierra Club’s Sustainability Project.
These tracks were recorded in 2002 - some at Tom Dougherty’s place in Elkton, some at the Astrocade, but all around the same time and with the same people. For the most part, I am singing and playing keyboards, Tom is playing guitar, Jeff Green is playing drums, and Bill Degnan is playing bass. Vocals on Servants to Slaves and photographs provided by Jessica Bratton.
In 1998 I started playing with a band called La La Does Jesus. They had put out an album, but were looking for a new direction in sound. I joined up with them and played mostly keyboards and some guitar. The pinnacle of our time together culminated in the seven hundred twenty degrees of phasing album. The recording posted here is the very first time we ever played all together at Leif’s Grandmother’s garage in Delaware waaaaaayyyy back on April 19, 1998. Enjoy! This week’s freakout was recorded on October 30, 2007 (this past Tuesday). My friend Sonny Baker is visiting from London, doing an internship at WebLinc. He also creates various tones, and builds tone generation software, on his laptop. We were at National Mechanics having some drinks with Nate Flannigan, and decided to go to my house for a jam session. Nate played guitar, so I figured I would play the drums. The results of that are posted below.
